SSB:M 2v2 2-Stage
in terms of the Super Smash Brothers: Melee 2v2 tournament it will be broken up into stages.
Terminology definitions:
A game will consist of stock lives and timelimits determined per stage of the tournament
A match will consist of a set amount of games determined per stage of the tournament
A match will be between two teams, each team consisting of two players
If you are not present for the beginning of a match you will forfeit the tournament; we will not wait for you, this is why we have a schedule
We will only accommodate up to 12 teams
Stage 1: Round Robin
The pool of entrants will be divided into Groups of 6. Each group of 6 will play a Round Robin series against those in the group. Only one group will play at a time. There will be no breaks during this Stage if you are in the middle of completing your Round Robin series. We will have a general 10 minute break after this Stage.
In the event that there is a pool of players that is not easily divisible by 6, the following will happen:
-If the remainder is 3 or more, they will form a group and play out a Round Robin series
-If the remainder is 2 or less, we will award two players a buy into Stage 2 at the discretion of Tournament Administration
In this stage a match will consist of 1 game. A game will consist of 3 stock lives and a 5 minute timelimit. The map is negotiated between the two teams at game creation time, if there is a dispute a Tournament Administrator will pick a map at random.
The top two teams from each group will advance to Stage 2.
There will be a 10 minute break before Stage 2 starts.
Stage 2: Round Robin
The entrants for this stage will be slotted into a Round Robin bracket. We ask that players avoid taking breaks at this stage.
In this stage a match will consist of 1 game. A game will consist of 4 stock lives and an 8 minute timelimit. The map is negotiated between the two players at game creation time.
First and Second place will be determined by win/loss scoring in the Round Robin Series.
If a tie for first place exists the tied teams will face-off in an additional match to determine first place, same format as Stage 2.
If a tie for second place exists the tied teams will face-off in an additional match to determine second place, same format as Stage 2.
