DotA 2 - 2 Stage - Round-Robin/Single Elimination - 5v5

In terms of the DotA 2 5v5 tournament, it will be broken up into two stages with the following format and ruleset:

Format details:

• All matches will be 5v5


• All matches will use Captain's Draft


• All matches will use the Tournament version of the game


• Each match will have a coin-flip (or equivalent) performed by tournament admin, the winner of this coin-flip will pick which side their team plays on


• If your team needs a break notify a LANified! tournament admin. Breaks may not exceed 10 minutes. If your team is not ready in time your team may face disqualification from the tournament.


• Maximum 10 entrant teams

Stage 1: Round Robin

All entrant teams will be placed in a single Round Robin pool. The Round Robin set will be played out until every team has played every other team. Ranking will be determined by traditional Round Robin scoring.
-Matches between teams in Stage 1 are bo1 (Best of 1 game)

The top 4 teams based on ranking will proceed to Stage 2.


Stage 2: Single Elimination

The entrant teams that make it to this stage will be slotted into a Single Elimination Bracket. Traditional Single Elimination matching will occur, this includes a match for 3rd and 4th place.
-Matches between teams in Stage 2 are bo3 (Best of3 games)


DotA 2 centric rules:

• Pauses may not exceed 2 minutes, abuse of pauses may result in tournament administrative decisions against the offending team up to and including disqualification from the tournament


• In the event of a disconnect a pause may occur while the disconnected player reconnects to the game


• If a disconnected player cannot reconnect before the pause expires, the player may continue to attempt to reconnect but the match must continue unpaused


• In the case of massive, catastrophic computer failure the match may be completely restarted at the discretion of a tournament admin

General rules:

• Teams consist of 5 players, no bots


• Ringers are not allowed


• Rosters cannot change once the tournament starts


• If a team is considered to be a poor sport they will be disqualified from the tournament by a LANified! tournament admin at their discretion.


• 3rd party software is not allowed, this includes utility software.


• A match may be paused to deal with computer or other issues. If a team has player/computer problems for longer than 5 minutes they will forfeit the match.


• Cheating in a tournament will result in immediate expulsion of the team from the event without refund.
